Better than I expected. It was possible to have a decent conversation in there without having what you said drowned out by excessively loud entertainment systems.
Fantastic host great beer, and shorts, always happy to serve and have a chat. Nice and clean too. Great pub to visit
This is an excellent pub, just like they used to be, with no frills. Beer was superb, staff friendly too. A short walk from Basford Tram Stop. Sells the Shipstones Beer Range at very reasonable prices.

I have been here a few times with my Mum. I’ve never had a bad meal but was disappointed with the chicken burger which had 3 chicken goujons in it with a lettuce leaf and a couple of slices of tomato. I wouldn’t recommend this at £11.95 as I don’t think this is good value.
Our two Sunday lunches failed to hit the spot. Over cooked vegetables. Ribbon thin beef. Insipid roast potatoes. Good Yorkshire’s however! & Lots of gravy The wife’s Massaman curry was excellent. Shame good ambiance Friendly staff
Had a lovely lunch with friends today. Great value for money. Excellent food all freshly prepared and really friendly staff. Can highly recommend.

The Barrel Drop

7 Hurts Yard, Nottingham NG1 6JD, United Kingdom
What We Offer:

Founded back in 2006 by keen home-brewers Ken, Bob and Nick. Here at Magpie we endeavour to have as little environmental impact as possible, meaning our beer is as guilt-free as we can make it. Here are a few things we do to achieve this. Here at Magpie we’re conscious that the process of brewing produces a lot of waste water. That’s why we try to get the most use out of the water we consume by reusing this waste to jet wash our casks! We have made all of our beer completely vegan to show that vegan tastes just as good.

This pub is a sister pub of the Crafty Crow and tucked away down a little alley off the main drag. We were the only ones there when we went but I can imagine the atmosphere would be great in the evening. The craft beer menu was certainly interesting and this place is definitely worth a visit.
A hidden gem just off Market square down a narrow alley (Hurts yard). Small place with great relaxed atmosphere, probably due to friendly, welcoming staff. Beer selection is great – plenty of local stuff and unusual crafts, particularly some excellent stouts. Can try lots by having thirds as well as halves! Will look to call in whenever I am in town…
A lot of beer love and heart here. Decent size and homely. Stout fobbing when I visited (it happens). Docked a star only because the competition in Nottingham is so high and would have liked to see a slightly broader range of styles on offer. I am being super fussy here….The Barrel Drop is very highly recommended.
