We made our first steps back in 1924 when husband and wife team, Charles and Eveline Clinkard opened their first shoe shop in Middlesbrough. The business model was simple, provide high quality shoes and a first-rate customer experience; values that continue to influence the day to day running of the company, from product selection to customer service. Charles and Eveline had four children of their own which led to correctly fitting children’s shoes becoming a passion of Eveline’s and she would personally measure and fit children who visited the shop. Ensuring that children’s shoes are correctly fitted remains a core principle of the business.

Called in on a Saturday morning, in search of wide fitting shoes as their website said that were stockists. Not knowing what I was looking for, Yvette immediately came to my assistance and asked if she could be of assistance. Some 45 minutes later, I went away with 3 pairs of shoes happy in the knowledge that they fitted perfectly.

Brilliant staff. Took my toddler in today for her first shoes, so a bit of a moment. They were amazing with her, triple checking the fit, loads of good advice, and a great photo of her to mark the occasion. Defo going back there. Excellent team.

This is the only shoe shop that has recognised my sons need for especially wide and tall shoes. Clarks didn’t notice, even his doctors didn’t notice, despite his foot pain! It was so obvious when the assistant pointed it out and showed us why some shoe styles don’t work for him. We felt very supported by the assistants here, even when they were busy.

Beautifully well laid out shop. Must try if you want a sort of exclusive shopping experience and the shopkeeper is also very polite and knowledgeable. The products also seem good quality and if you are likely to get a good bargain if sale is on. Highly recommended.

Came in today to purchase some new boots but had a few choices and needed help choosing the correct pair. I was served by Scott who was incredible. A fantastic salesman and a true ambassador for the brand. He was full energy and passion and had a deep knowledge of the brand and products. Very impressed with the service and the boots.
